Mike Daly and his wife Robina, accessed Elderly People (55+) Floating Support, when living in Portrush. They moved to Armagh and continued accessing services with Regional Floating Support.

Mike had a stroke, and as a result, has limited conversation skills and is an electric wheelchair user. Floating Support Worker Liz,supported Mike and his wife, Robina to apply for a Boiler Replacement Grant and Disability Adaptation Grant.

Liz also, assisted Robina to renew her driving license and apply for a Blue Disabled Parking Badge, which she received. Liz supported Mike to become a member of Community Transport. Mike’s Floating Support Worker assisted him and his wife to have a Home Safety Check from the local Council and a Fire Safety Check, which was carried out by the NI Fire and Rescue Service.  The FIRS replaced their smoke alarms in Mike’s home and gave him and Robina fire safety advice. They were put on the Electric Boards Vulnerable User List.  Liz, further supported the couple in other areas, and they received several aids, such as an assisted bin lift and Disabled Keys for the public toilets. Liz helped Robina with issues surrounding IT and internet.  Liz supported Mike and Robina to have a Benefit Check carried out, resulting in Robina being awarded the High Rate of Care in Attendance Allowance.

Robina, Mike's wife had this to say about their experience:

My name is Robina, and my husband is Mike. Mike had a severe stroke and is in a wheelchair. We lived in Portstewart, where I was introduced to Cedar. When we moved to Armagh, Cedar continued to support us. I was at my wit's end caring 24/7 for Mike. When I first met Liz, we clicked straight away. Liz was a God send to us. She is the most caring person I have had the pleasure to meet. Nothing was too much trouble for Liz to do. She worked tirelessly with myself and Mike. Liz made sure we were getting the right help for Mike's needs. I can't praise her enough for her hard work and putting me on the right track. We both will miss her great smile and fantastic personality and her friendship. All good things have to come to an end. Thank you, Liz, for all your help and kindness for sorting us out. You are a true star not to be forgotten.
