Contacts Work and Training Adam tells us about his experience with our Inclusion Works and SkillSET programmes Adam recently participated in both our Inclusion Works and Skillset programmes to develop his employability skills, explore employment opportunities, and identify social and community activities in his local area. Adam has successfully secured part-time work in the ASDA Café in Coleraine and is now being supported by Cedar as he begins his new job. He has also developed a passion for long-distance running and with support from his Cedar support worker joined his local Springwell running club in Ballymoney. He travels to the club twice per week to train. Adam has competed in several long-distance races across many countries, including, Spain, America, Ireland and across the UK. Of the 8 half marathons Adam has now completed, he has picked the Antrim coast half-marathon and Granada’s ‘Ciudad De Granada’ as his top highlights. He posted very impressive times of under two hours and covered a distance of 13.1 miles! Adams said: "I believe people should not put a limit on their expectations or allow others to put barriers in the way of their goals. Cedar has been here to support me on my journey. I enjoy the new independence I have, including travelling independently and competing in running events all over the world."
