Denise is currently employed by Queen’s University, Belfast. She is a reader in Human Resource Management and has previously been the Director of Post Graduate Education at Queen’s Business School and Programme Director for the School’s MSc Human Resource Management course. She is an active researcher, with interests in employment relations, specifically in conflict management, partnering and collaboration, workforce wellbeing and inclusion. 

Her work often considers the context of health and social care involving both statutory and nonprofit organisations. Her research often involves case organisations and, in the past, has examined Cedar as a case study of innovative human resource development. She has published widely in fields of Work and Employment, as well as in interdisciplinary fields involving health and social care contexts. 

Denise’s recent focus has been on translating research evidence to practice, working directly with HR and Organisational Development practitioners in health and social care employers. Denise has taught human resource management, employee relations, and change management to both undergraduates and postgraduates.
