Image shows Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Development Dr. Barq DA delegation of 8 senior officials from the Jordan Government, led by Dr. Barq D'Mour, Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Development, visited Northern Ireland last week. They are working to develop services in the community for people with disabilities in Jordan. They were interested in how we at the Cedar Foundation work to a person-centred approach and how we involve the voice of service users in the design, delivery, and review of all our services. They were also impressed by the training and career development opportunities for our staff.
The group visited our Balmoral Resource Centre to see how we support people with autism, to help prepare service users for work; and additionally met with a rehabilitation group of our adult service users who have sustained a brain injury. Before ending their visit with us, they visited a The Mews, one of our Supported Living facilities, to see how people with complex disabilities, can be provided with opportunities and choices to live inclusively within the community.
They were accompanied by Paul Martin and John Black from Northern Ireland Cooperation Overseas.
Hosted in Cedar by Elaine Armstrong, (CEO) and Directors Rosie McNaughton & Margaret Cameron.
