Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers. Launched in 1984, this initiative has been running for over 40 years, providing organisations and communities a platform to thank current and past volunteers for their invaluable efforts.

We are showing our apprecitation to the wonderful volunteers that support us in vision of an inclusive society for all.

"Volunteers often go that extra mile. In this case, my volunteer relocated to an area more than 100 miles away from where he was volunteering, but rather than disappoint the person he supports and had built up a relationship with, he has continued the relationship through online services, with occasional in-person meet-ups when possible. His compassion and dedication are evident with this transition, which he himself offered to do, rather than disappoint the service user. They both look forward to the chats, and this is exactly how volunteering should be, in that both parties need to be getting something out of it."

Work and Learn

" My volunteer was  volunteering with the Cedar Foundation for several years, supporting a social ICT group, promoting the development of communication and digital skills on Cedar's Inclusion Works service.  He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise, along with a friendly and welcoming demeanour ensuring participants quickly settle into the group with ease.  He has excellent rapport with the participants in the group and has become an important contributor in ensuring the ongoing success of the group.  On behalf of Cedar and the group participants we would like to thank him for his time and ongoing input, it is greatly appreciated!"

"My volunteer has been supporting the social group with Inclusion Works acting as a Dungeon Master for them and sharing his own extensive knowledge of leading the game. He developed a great relationship with the group, adapting gameplay which was suitable to all and making sure that each member of the group felt included.  We are now exploring another volunteering options allowing him to continue providing support to the Inclusion Works team since the ending of the IW Dungeons and Dragons group.  We are looking into another gaming option with a potential Pokemon Walking Group.  He has been an asset to the gaming group, listening to the needs of the group and sharing his knowledge of the Dungeons and Dragons game. As well as this, he has made new friends, built on his own confidence and is always open to considering new ideas to be involved with our service users."

"A big Thankyou to our volunteers who create our fantastic Volunteer newsletter. They interviewed me for a recent newsletter and I was impressed by their professionalism and dedication.  We are so grateful that the girls volunteer their time to produce the volunteer newsletter.

I love completing the puzzles and reading the interviews with volunteers and staff.

There is always a recipe that looks gorgeous."

We all appreciate you both! Thank you both!
