Latest News Youth Matters Celebrates Service Users taking part in Duke of Edinburgh This weekend we hosted a celebration event at Belfast Castle to recognise the achievements of young people who completed their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bronze Expedition, many of whom faced additional barriers along the way. The evening focused on effort, personal progress and resilience rather than outcomes alone, ensuring every young person is acknowledged for what they achieved. It was a positive and inclusive celebration of confidence, teamwork and perseverance, supported by families, staff and partners who helped make the journey possible. Speaking at the event Cedar CEO, Elaine Armstrong said: “This evening is about recognising effort, courage and growth. These young people took on a challenge that pushed them beyond their comfort zones, and each achievement deserves to be celebrated. We are incredibly proud of them and grateful to the families and staff who supported them throughout their journey.” Duke of Edinburgh Operations Officer, Grace, added: "I am delighted to be invited to be a part of this first Duke of Edinburgh’s Award celebration event with The Cedar Foundation. We strongly believe the Award should be accessible for all young people, and we are working to identify and overcome any barriers experienced by all young people. It has been great to see the Award delivered by The Cedar Foundation over the last three years and we look forward to many more completed Awards and celebrations ahead. A massive congratulations to each young person represented tonight!" The evening reflected a theme of achievement and inclusion which are values central to both organisations. With the Duke Of Edinburgh's Award and Cedar celebrating 70 and 85 years of supporting young people respectively the evening was warm, memorable and a fitting way to focus on the people that undertook the expedition.
