Following support provided through Cedar’s Inclusion Works programme Maria chose to continue her journey with Cedar’s SkillSET service. Working closely with Employment Officer Andrew McCutcheon to explore opportunities for work, their search led them to Share Discovery Village where CEO Darragh Collins was immediately keen to hear more about opportunities for partnership working.

Therefore, she was delighted when Darragh agreed to adjust the recruitment process offering an 8 week paid work trial giving Maria the opportunity to showcase her skills. Maria thrived during the trial period and was officially offered a permanent paid position at Share Discovery Village. This marks the beginning of a fulfilling career and a bright future ahead. More than just a job, this opportunity has opened doors for Maria to grow both personally and professionally.

Maria said:

I feel valued in work now and very appreciative for the support provided to allow me to enter into paid employment”.

Talking about his experience in working with Cedar, Darragh shared:

“Cedar knows their participants really well, how their strengths, skills and attributes match specific job roles and provide clear guidance to both employer and participant.”

This successful outcome is just the start of a wonderful partnership between Share Discovery Village and Cedar. Together setting a powerful example of how businesses and community organisations can collaborate to create inclusive workplaces where everyone has the chance to shine.
