A group of Cedar's service users from Inclusion Works, in the Southeastern Area, visited the Air Ambulance last Thursday (11 September), for a fascinating look at the work they provide.

Case Officer Eve Carragher discovered, during PEABI (Personal Effectiveness After Brain Injury) training, that two of our Cedar participants had previously been rescued by Air Ambulance. This led to the group requesting a visit to the site to learn more about the charity.

The group had the pleasure of visiting the Air Ambulance rescue base on Thursday, where they met with staff members who assisted in the air rescue of our Cedar participants.

Service Manager Roisin Barrett stated that the event was a tremendous success and has forged new links with such a worthwhile charity.

Service users and staff members also spoke of their enjoyment of the event. Cushla Flynn - who was rescued by the Air Ambulance team - stated: "So humbling and meaningful being able to meet the people who saved my life.  Grateful beyond words."

Helen Hannah called it an "Amazing experience," and a "great charity to support."

Bobby added: "Brilliant experience and great to know they are there for you."

Sam Courtney - who was also rescued by the Air Ambulance team - said: "Emotional and heartwarming, to be able to meet the people that saved my life is a very proud and humbling experience. Not all heroes wear capes." While Dave Jones said: "Ever Grateful."

Kerry Anderson, Head of Fundraising for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland, spoke of her joy at the Cedar visit, saying: “It was wonderful to welcome visitors from Cedar Foundation to the Air Ambulance base. The positivity, energy and fun from this group was lovely and we would like to particularly thank them for the donation they made to our charity that will help future patients. We wish everyone all the best for continued recovery; you are all amazing.”
