Imam tells her story on the support that she received from her Floating Support Worker Good News Story from our Floating Support service Imam has been receiving support from her Floating Support Worker Lynsey for around seven months. Imam has been receiving support to live more independently. Lynsey has provided support with help in finding a dentist to enable Iman to become registered with them. Imam was also supported to have the NIRFS visit with her to provide a Fire Safety Check to make sure Imam’s home was safe and everything was in place for her. As Iman is Arabic, her main goal was to register for a course in Lisburn SERC to study English language and increase her ability to understand and speak the language. Imam is able to speak and understand some English, but wanted to improve her English Language skills. With assistance from Lynsey and Iman’s Social Worker Laura, Iman was supported to enroll on the course of her choosing. Imam was supported to have several meetings with Lisburn SERC to ensure support was in place to enable her to attend her course with as little barriers as possible. Going forward Iman will also receive support with Travel Training, which will involve using the local bus services to enable her to travel independently. Iman and her family have expressed her thanks to both Lynsey, her Floating Support Worker and Laura for all the help that they have received, as this has been invaluable to enabling Iman to maintain her independence.
