Ruth and her mum Geraldine have accessed Cedar's Floating Support service and thanks to direction provided by Christine they have set and met thier personal goals. 

Ruth explains:

“Christine has been my Floating Support worker over the last few months and she has helped me identify what support I need. We started off by making a plan of goals to achieve. The goals included, budgeting, grocery shopping online, applying for DATS and for a mobility scooter. With Christine’s encouragement and support I have achieved these goals. Christine has enabled me to reach a new level of independence. I feel my confidence and self-esteem has grown over the last few months with Christine’s support and encouragement. I really enjoyed my time with Christine; she is a very caring, thoughtful, and a fun to be with person.”

Cedar's Floating Support service helps people across the region. It covers all of the Northern, Southern and Belfast Trust areas. In the South-Eastern Trust area the service is available in Lisburn and Greater Lisburn. It is also available in the Northern Sector of the Western Trust. This service will help anyone aged 18+ (no upper age limit). Service users receive ‘housing related support’, enabling them to develop independent living skills.

Ruth's mum Gearldine added:

“As a Floating Support worker, Christine has been supporting me over the last few months. We started off by making a plan, identifying my needs and what support I could avail of. We discussed issues, such as, housing support and benefits support. I found that Christine was very knowledgeable of policies and procedures in these areas. On a more practical issue, Christine was able to show me how to use online grocery shopping, which has been a great help to me. I found Christine to be a good listener, reliable, practical, patient, kind, caring, and good fun. Christine met all my expectations of a support worker in the community.”
