For ABI Week, our Cedar Connections Foyle ABI group came together for a photograph emphasising their support for one another and their commitment to overcoming isolation. Standing side by side, the group photo reflects the power of connection, friendship, and shared understanding. Featured in the moment is Nicola Roulston, Cedar Advocate, who joined the group to deliver a session on the “5 Steps to Wellbeing,” offering practical ways to nurture mental and emotional health. For Brain Injury Awareness Week, the group proudly shares how talking, listening, and connecting can make a meaningful difference in building confidence and a sense of belonging.

Our Connections group in Omagh meets weekly to catch up over a tea or coffee, and give some new activities a go. Recently the group have enjoyed chair yoga, creating art using natural materials and inks and worked with clay to create wall hanging vases. The group have been together a long time and have forged strong connections and friendships. Their catch up once a week is a highlight for some, as it is their only break from the isolation of being at home. Future activities planned involve some more explorative arts and craft, as well as mental and physical health programmes facilitated by external agencies such as Action Mental Health and the Western Trust.
