Ardkeen and Hillmount organised a special social evening that brought people together in a warm, welcoming environment. The evening featured a lively bingo session followed by karaoke. People who may not have met before had the chance to sit together, chat, and enjoy each other’s company. Laughter echoed throughout the room as numbers were called, songs were sung, and everyone cheered each other on. “I loved it and won prizes.” “It’s been a long time since I have danced and sung!”

For ABI Week, we wanted to spotlight the achievements of many of our service users. Sandra (pictured here) recently moved to Ardkeen after spending the past two years living in a nursing home. Prior to the move, Sandra had not been involved in household tasks for quite some time. However, from the very first day she arrived, her motivation and positive attitude were clear. Sandra began making cups of tea alongside staff and quickly started getting involved with everyday tasks, including everything from laundry to washing dishes. Sandra has been out shopping with staff, is taking part in cooking, and is regularly coming down to the communal areas to engage with both staff and fellow tenants. She is also actively participating in activities within Ardkeen, showing growing confidence and social engagement.
